We headed to Fire Service College parkrun for its second week of return. Previously it has stopped and Wolford Wood had taken its place. But now the later has ceased and this one resumed. Interestingly both on the same event number too!

Why We Went Along to Fire Service College parkrun
We went along for the second week as there was a gap in my Floating Wilson! It was also our new NENDY (nearest event not done yet) and also because we had completed all the Gloucestershire parkruns.
Getting To Fire Service College parkrun
Well it was with big thanks to our 17 year old son that I was able to go. He had passed his test around 9 weeks previously, but is much more confident driving than I am. My ice bath needed picking up and so my husband had to stay home.

Fire Service College parkrun is accessible by foot, train, bus, cycle or car.
Facilities
After getting through security there were lots of people directing the traffic. We seemed to have got sent to an overflow carpark.
Toilets inside the building near the start/finish area – which are not far from the car park.
Warming up and cooling down are to be contained to the field at the start/finish – and you are asked not to go back around the course when you have finished.

Signs and Notices
There’s a lovely parkrun board with the course map and information about volunteering and some photos of volunteers.
A clear yellow sign that says, “First Timer & Tourist Welcome Point.” Another similar looking board was at the end for chip token return too.

There was a PB bell – this week with a picture of Leslie Philips saying, “Ding Song!” – but I saw the following week that it was Keith Flint – with Fire Service College parkrun starter above the bell.
The week we attended we found it really difficult getting a photo with the sign as there were just so many people about, even though we arrived relatively early.
Fire Service College parkrun Course
Flat 3 lap course which is a mix of sports fields and tarmac track including through woodlands. Mainly on grass and mostly very open. The bit between the trees was nice and shady and on path.
This is a no dogs course.

My Experience at Fire Service College parkrun
It was a nice parkrun but the weather was really hot. The boys ran together so I just struggled on my own. Walked quite a bit and was therefore happy with my 28m 38s.
A quick start – and well quick overall really. Not only reflected in the fact that the first finisher was done in 17 and half minutes, but that even the tail walker was finished well under the hour!
Turns out there were 3 Joys today so I must have heard one of the others being encouraged as she finished. I knew that people locally were there and assumed it was me until I saw the results.
Gutted didn’t realise that the Hoffman himself was there. He was the first person to complete his first 50 parkruns at different venues.
Lady I was trying to keep with at the end started slowing down. Told her she was my motivation and to keep going, we had this. But she started really speeding up far too far away from the end for me. Did manage to sprint past her at the end though.

One I would like to return to when it is cooler.

What a coincidence that this one and Wolford Wood were on the same event number! We’re still determined to complete all the Gloucestershire parkruns, so will definitely pay this one a visit soon. Not being able to rejoin the course wouldn’t suit my family – my sister and BIL always go back to meet their kids and my parents.
Thanks very much for the mention!
PS what on Earth is a Floating Wilson?!
Oh I was meant to link it back to my stats and challenges post!
Basically a Wilson is all the event numbers in a row starting from 1. Floating is the most amount you have in a row anywhere – yours is 25
