I think this is due to the fact that they have more than 4 channels of tv to watch and the boom of the internet and computer games. Maybe I&#8217;m just unlucky to have children that haven&#8217;t got the thirst for reading that I had as a child.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>Well it got me to thinking which books have we all enjoyed?<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/books.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-13094 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/books.jpg?resize=300%2C224\" alt=\"children reading\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>I loved <a href=\"http:\/\/www.roalddahl.com\/\">Roald Dahl<\/a> &#8211; in particular The BFG, Matilda, The Twits. Charlie and the chocolate factory &#8211; especially good in my younger years.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.just-pooh.com\/milne.html\">A.A.Milne Winnie the Pooh<\/a> &#8211; still have lots of books including a complete works &#8211; on the bookshelf.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cslewis.com\/\">C.S.Lewis<\/a> &#8211; I did read all the chronicles of Narnia starting with the Lion, The Witch and the wardrobe.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.judyblume.com\/\">Judy Blume<\/a> &#8211; especially Forever (which I remember the school banned us year ones (now year 7) from reading after we were all queuing up to read it and they found the bit where she meets &#8220;Ralph&#8221; &#8211; bit thumbed that page I think.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>\u00a0and Letters to Judy: What your kids wished they could tell you &#8211; both helping with that growing up period.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>My teenage years included reading a lot of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.millsandboon.co.uk\/\">Mills&amp;Boon<\/a> &amp; <a href=\"http:\/\/jackiecollins.com\/\">Jackie Collins<\/a> &#8211; in fact I think I wanted to be the next Jackie Collins when I was 14 so read lots of them.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.adrianmole.com\/\">Adrian Mole<\/a> &#8211; have read the older ones as I aged too. And any other diary type books &#8211; with just a thirst for trying to read more Adrian Mole like books.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>Books I read at school for English and enjoyed are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pemberley.com\/janeinfo\/pridprej.html\">Jane Austen Pride and Prejudice<\/a>, William Shakespeare <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hamlet\">Hamlet<\/a>, Thomas Hardy\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.online-literature.com\/hardy\/tess_urbervilles\/\">Tess of d&#8217;urbervilles<\/a>, Harper Lee <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/10355908\">To kill a Mockingbird<\/a>, Charles Dickens <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Great_Expectations\">Great Expectations<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>I am sure there are many many other great books that I read as a child that were important to me and will kick myself I have forgotten them, but these books are part of the reason I love to write.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><em>Have any of them inspired you? Do you have your own favourite childhood book list? Are there any you don&#8217;t agree are that great?
