A complimentary visit<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Silverstone Experience is a charity museum which allows you to get up close to famous cars and bikes from racing history.  It is interesting to both those who are and who aren\u2019t avid racing fans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the visit you will discover more about how Silverstone is built on the site of a World War II Royal Air Force bomber station. There is a wealth of information, memorabilia and hands on exhibits explaining all about RAF Silverstone and the history of the Grand Prix. Including a chance to walk outside on the original Grand Prix Circuit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Silverstone Experience covers a variety of aspects regarding Formula 1 racing at Silverstone. One of my favourites throughout are the posters explaining which gears to use on each section of the course. Then there is useful information comparing Formula1 cars to family cars – including tyres, suspension and braking. There is a brake you can press to see the difference too – I could not get the F1 brake to budge!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As you go through the history you can see many different racing suits and trophies, with information on the drivers. It was good to see South African Desire Wilson\u2019s racing suit and helmet. She is still a strong advocate for women within motorsport and recently presented the winner\u2019s trophy at the Brands Hatch round of the all-female racing championship, the W Series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Silverstone Experience goes right up to date with the F1 car driven by Sergio P\u00e9rez in the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix<\/a>, breaking the record for the number of starts before a race win at 190.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Silverstone Experiences recommends that you allow 1 \u00bd- 2 \u00bd hours to visit in order to enjoy all of the exhibition, including hands-on activities, showing the ultimate lap of Silverstone in the 360 degree special-effects cinema , and state-of-the-art racing simulators. We only had a short visit and did miss out on quite a bit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Silverstone Experience is open from 3pm-7pm (last entry at 6pm). Prices are from \u00a314 pp for a family of four. With Free parking – car park 49, directly in front of the museum. There is a Caf\u00e9 (open Thursday \u2013 Sunday 10.00 am \u2013 4.00pm) serving a number of hot and cold food and drinks. These includes seasonal treats – but all food and drink must be consumed within the caf\u00e9. The Silverstone Experience shop includes products inspired by the archive and pocket-money treats, as well as Silverstone Circuit branded products. Only open until 5pm but also online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
