Advanced\nScreening Review of My Spy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My Spy Movie – The Plot <\/h2><\/u>\n\n\n\n

My Spy sees JJ a hardened CIA operative (played by Dave\nBautista, probably best known for playing Drax one of the Guardians of the\nGalaxy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe) almost completely blowing a mission so\nends up demoted by his boss (Ken Jeong) and placed on surveillance\nwith his biggest fan Bobbi (Kristen Schaal) Trixie the voice of the blue\ndinosaur in the Toy Story films).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But things go wrong when nine year old Sophie (Chloe Coleman)\ndiscovers one of the cameras that have been bugged in her apartment – and with\na bit of savvy she convinces JJ to take her skating, buy her ice-cream, teach\nher how to become a spy and finally date her mother (Parisa Fitz-Henley)!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thoughts on My Spy<\/h3><\/u>\n\n\n\n

My Spy was enjoyed by all of my family (ages 10 to adult) as\nthere was most definitely something for everybody in this film. There is a good\nmix of action, comedy and romance – with an easy to follow plot, which works on\nseveral levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That said if you are looking for an all-action Spy movie then\nthis probably isn\u2019t the one for you, as there is action at the beginning and\nthe end, but much of the film is about JJ letting go of his past and letting\npeople back into his heart again. It is also most definitely not suitable for\nall – with it really pushing the bar in terms of language and content. In fact\nI feel that the LGBT audience may even be offended by some of the content –\nthere\u2019s the stereotypes in the gay couple\u2019s relationship but also the awkwardness\nof Bobbi\u2019s character being referred to as her being a lesbian for example. Also\nworth noting that JJ suggests killing the child and that is some of the\nmaterial which Sophie uses to blackmail him with – not things all parents want\ntheir children to be exposed to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conclusions on My Spy<\/h3><\/u>\n\n\n\n

If your children are of a certain age or you just want to\nwatch it as an adult then I would recommend My Spy as being one to watch. I\nthink that Bautista does a great job of playing JJ and how each of his\nrelationships with others evolve. It definitely is a feel good movie and I came\nout thinking I can\u2019t wait to tell people to go and see it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
