The sun\u2019s shining, you\u2019ve got bags of energy; what could be better? However, there are other days when it\u2019s the last thing you\u2019ll feel like doing. Here is a <strong>guest post<\/strong> with some ways you can get motivated, even if you\u2019re really not in the mood.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Motivating yourself for a run<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Remember your goal. <\/em>It\u2019s good to have a goal in mind when you\u2019re running. For example, are you doing it to improve your health? Or, are you trying to tone up a little bit? You might even have a <a href=\"https:\/\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/2017\/05\/22\/my-first-half-marathon\/\">big race to train for<\/a>; one that you\u2019re running for a favourite charity. Combine the two tasks \u2013 take your faithful friend on a run with you! Just make sure to keep it under control, as it can be difficult for other runners \/ walkers when a dog is leaping all over them.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/dog-outdoors.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-25682\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/dog-outdoors.jpg?resize=800%2C600\" alt=\"dog outdoors\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/54.155.211.39\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/dog-outdoors.jpg?w=800 800w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/54.155.211.39\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/dog-outdoors.jpg?resize=300%2C225 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/54.155.211.39\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/dog-outdoors.jpg?resize=768%2C576 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Or take the kids\u2026 <\/em>If your children are of a certain age, they\u2019ve probably got lots of energy to spare. Encourage your <a href=\"https:\/\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/2017\/06\/12\/should-children-do-parkrun\/\">kids to get more active by running regularly together<\/a>. In fact, if there\u2019s a local Park-run near you, consider signing up to take part. It\u2019s free to join in, and there\u2019s usually lots of other people doing it too; which usually creates a nice atmosphere.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/teen-running-up-hill.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-25532\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/teen-running-up-hill.jpg?resize=800%2C978\" alt=\"teen running up hill\" width=\"800\" height=\"978\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/54.155.211.39\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/teen-running-up-hill.jpg?w=800 800w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/54.155.211.39\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/teen-running-up-hill.jpg?resize=245%2C300 245w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/54.155.211.39\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/teen-running-up-hill.jpg?resize=768%2C939 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Or go with some friends! <\/em>It\u2019s great to have some company on a run. If any of your other friends are into running, arrange to meet once a week for a jog around the park. It\u2019s also great for mental health If you\u2019re feeling angry at a client at work, go for a run! There\u2019s something about pounding the streets that\u2019s really therapeutic. Likewise, if you\u2019re feeling down or anxious, a quick run will release endorphins, which help improve your mood.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Put your favourite tunes on. <\/em>Music is a powerful motivator; especially if you\u2019re listening to upbeat tunes. Alternatively, you could listen to podcasts while you\u2019re running, or even an audio book from a site like Audible. Before you head off on your run, spray on an invigorating, energetic perfume \u2013 it\u2019ll help. Look for fragrances that have fruity or spicy notes \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/copycatfragrances.co.uk\">Copycat Fragrances<\/a> is a good place to search for inspiration.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Choose the right time of day. <\/em>Some people function best really early in the morning, and love nothing more than to sling on their trainers and go for a run before everyone else is up. Others like to wait until the evening, when it\u2019s dark. Identify what time of day you find preferable, as this will help make it feel less like a chore.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Get in the habit. <\/em>When an action becomes a habit, we\u2019re far more likely to keep on doing it. Set aside regular time each week (even if it\u2019s just every Saturday morning) to devote to your run. Psychologically, you\u2019ll start to view it as a \u2018normal\u2019 action, rather than something that interrupts your day.
